Welcome to Darlington Clinical Commissioning Group’s website
We’re a group of Darlington GPs who work together to commission (plan and buy) health services for our patients.
There are some significant differences in health between the various parts of the Darlington area. <link Darlington health>
What are CCGs?
We’re one of 209 clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in England, established in 2012. A CGG is an independent statutory body governed by locally based doctors, nurses and experienced managers, supported by health professionals using direct input from the general public.

Our CCG is supported by a wider NHS team know as North of England Commissioning Support Unit, who work with us to help take forward plans and make real and lasting improvements for local people while making use of NHS resources.
Who are CCGs accountable to?
We’re overseen by NHS England at a national level.
The NHS is a complex system, which can sometimes make it difficult to understand – especially working out who is responsible for what. It’s made up of a wide range of different organisations with different roles, responsibilities and specialities. These organisations provide a variety of services and support to patients and carers.
