Patients in Darlington have been urged to ensure they cancel an appointment if they no longer need it.
Patients often do not attend appointments due to them feeling better or issues surrounding transport. However, some do not let their GP know that they won’t be attending.
This means the slot is left empty and wasted. If patients let their GP know they can’t make an appointment, this can free up space for someone who needs to be seen urgently.
“If you can’t make an appointment, please take five minutes to let your GP know.
“Every appointment which isn’t filled is a real waste when the demand is so high. By cancelling your appointment, an important slot becomes available for someone who needs to be seen urgently.
“It is a small ask that will make a big difference and allow the NHS in Darlington to run smoother.”
