To ease pressure on NHS services during the winter, NHS Darlington Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is encouraging patients in Darlington to use the available evening and weekend GP and nurse appointments which are available to all patients registered with a GP practice in Darlington.
They are available at the following times;
Saturday 8am – 2pm;
Sunday 9am – 1pm;
Monday-Thursdays 6.30 – 9pm;
Fridays 6.30 – 8.30pm.
Dr Alison MacNaughton Jones, Chair, NHS Darlington CCG, said. ‘The CCG commissions the service from Primary Healthcare Darlington which is the federation of all 11 GP practices in the town. We also want to stress that as well as booking an appointment to see a GP you can also see a nurse or a health care assistant. Services include contraceptive pills and Depo-Provera (contraceptive injections); health checks; cervical smear tests; blood tests and (ECGs) electrocardiogram requested by GPs. If seeing a GP during the evening or weekend would help you please call your practice and ask them about the appointments or call NHS 111, who can book you an appointment. This service aims to provide greater choice to patients and also help ease pressure on urgent care services across winter’.
